Complex Systems as Foundation

Set the foundation first, feeling how you are surely footed, rooted, to the ground beneath you.  Literally with fibrous roots, feeder roots, and deeper roots connecting all the way into the fiery core of the earth.

First just feel the soles of your feet and palms of hands. Feel how they tingle as they live as parts of your body.  Then feel how there’s a connectivity that moves out through your feet and hands into the crust of the earth and, moving slowly through the earth’s layers, maybe through rivers and oceans, mountains, even the microscopic universe of all that happens in the soil, in the soul.

It’s not chaos happening everywhere. It’s complex systems.  Everything holds patterns and habits, karmas and samskaras.  Complex systems have feedback loops and slowly build to tipping points.  We can intervene and adjust patterns.  Our impact depends on leverage and collective inertia.

Connect to what is greater than the simple little you, in gratitude, whatever that looks like for you.  Soften the brain that always thinks it’s in charge.  Let it know it is safe.  Let threads grow out the top of your head and connect into the infinite (and growing) space around and above.  Move through the stars and the darkness. Connecting with the abyss.  The expanse.

Then just sit there and breath into and out of the body.  No fancy shit really, just getting connected. Sitting and feeling into sensations of connecting to the earth below and the space above. There’s infinite complex systems working in harmony around us. We can set our stable foundation by anchoring into these seemingly complex systems.
